With sandy beaches on one side and the Intracoastal Waterway on the other, Topsail Island, N.C., is a popular camping location. Campgrounds nearest the beaches are generally RV cities, and waterway campgrounds are a bit less crowded. There are a few campgrounds in the Topsail Island area, including Surf City, North Topsail Beach and Sneads Ferry.
